7th Course report
The 7th EMRSS course was held in Syracuse from 24 to 28 October 2011. It was appreciated the note sent by the Director of the Institute of Health, the Telethon Chairman and Director of the W.H.O.
Prof. Alexander Giustini, President of the European Society of Doctors Physiatrists, together with the President of the Mediterranean Forum Lains Jorge stated that the topic was of great interest because it has allowed to know what are the novelties brought by the scientific research carried out by Institute of Health and Telethon and all Italian and foreign Universities operating in the field of rare genetic diseases. It was also presented the "first world report on disability" recently published by W.H.O. and covering 190 million people worldwide with disabilities. In the field of rare genetic diseases and illnesses, scientific research has made great strides but the rehabilitation has developed increasingly sophisticated means of rehabilitation strategies. The President Dr. Franco Cirillo points out that with the seventh edition of the course are now some 300 young doctors who have participated over the years the courses of EMRSS. The Young Doctors have come from about 20 countries in the Euro-Mediterranean area (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, Poland, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Tunisia). Going beyond the scientific perspective, at the highest level, one of the most interesting aspects of this event was to bring out a spirit of solidarity and friendship between young people from different backgrounds and culture. Today more than 300 participants of previous editions continue to feel, to write, to meet and grow together not only as specialists in the field, but above all as "friends".
